1. ChatGPT is back available in Italy.

Italy has ChatGPT again.
After the tug of war over the processing of personal data to train the algorithm, this is perhaps the most concrete sign of the thaw between the Italian Privacy Guarantor and OpenAi, the startup that developed the powerful chatbot.On April 30, OpenAi restored the service it had shut down about a month earlier in response to the temporary suspension of data processing for GDPR violations.
The chatbot site was available at 18.18 on April 28 when Wired checked.

OpenAi provided the Guarantor with all the expected answers by April 30 to close the dispute and avoid a fine of up to 20 million euros or 4% of global annual turnover.
The privacy policy was updated on April 27th.

2. Stability AI releases StableVicuna, the AI World’s First Open Source RLHF LLM Chatbot.

Chatbots have become very popular lately, and people are working hard to make them even better.
The key to making a chatbot work well is to train it in two ways: by telling it how to do things (instruction finetuning) and by letting people give feedback (reinforcement learning through human feedback).
Some groups are making it easier for others to build chatbots by sharing their training data, and there is now a big chatbot called StableVicuna that is trained using both instruction finetuning and reinforcement learning through human feedback. You can ask StableVicuna to do things like math, coding, and grammar.
To make StableVicuna, the people who built it used three different sets of data to teach it how to learn: conversations between humans, prompts generated by a computer, and instructions and demonstrations also generated by a computer.
Finally, they used a type of computer program called trlX to train StableVicuna even better.

3. Amazon’s Big Move Towards AI

Recently, Amazon held an earnings call, and during that call, CEO Andy Jassy revealed that the company intends to develop a more sophisticated large language model (LLM) to supercharge Alexa.
Amazon believes that by enhancing the LLM, they will be able to move closer to achieving their ultimate goal of developing "the best personal assistant in the world."
Jassy emphasized the significance of LLMs and generative AI in the process of achieving this vision, pointing out that Amazon is currently in a strong position with Alexa, which boasts "a couple of hundred million endpoints" across entertainment, shopping, and smart homes. Jassy's comments were made in light of Amazon's current success with Alexa.
Very soon, everyone will have their very own AI assistants that are specifically tailored to their needs.
We are unable to predict which of the major tech companies—Amazon, Apple, or Google—will develop that assistant first, but it is clear that these companies are competing to take the lead in this market.

4. Palantir is building a chat LLM interface for war.

• Palantir, a software company, has launched the Palantir Artificial Intelligence Platform (AIP).

• The AIP integrates large language models (LLMs) like OpenAI's GPT-4 or its alternatives into privately operated networks.

• The AIP's potential was first shown in modern battlefield conditions.

• The AIP helped assess the enemy's composition and capabilities and suggested tactical responses.

• Palantir acknowledges the significance of regulating the use of LLMs and algorithms in sensitive contexts, particularly in military operations.

• The company has developed three key pillars to ensure the responsible use of the technology: classified deployment, scope and action adjustments, and industry-leading guardrails.

• The steps taken to prevent LLMs from "hallucinating," or generating false facts and details, were not explained during the demo, which raises doubts about the technology's reliability and effectiveness.

The Amazing AI Super Tutor for Students and Teachers

Khan Academy's founder and current CEO, Sal Khan, is of the opinion that the introduction of AI into the classroom could usher in the most significant and beneficial change the field of education has ever witnessed.

He discusses the possibilities that he sees for students and teachers to work together using AI tools, such as the possibility of a personal AI tutor for each student and an AI teaching assistant for each teacher, and he demonstrates some exciting new features for their educational chatbot, Khanmigo.
